Google Translate App Now Allows You To Translate With Your Camera

And it works! Well, at least it yields the same results Google Translate generally does. But this time it’s done with your phone’s camera! Finally, a good use for AI which is not scary, does not collect data about you, and is just plain cool. So this is how I learnt I’d actually missed something:

When I came across this meme on the Internet I immediately downloaded the app to my phone from Google Play, especially since I’ve used the desktop version for a long time. And indeed it works! We live in the future. One can’t overstate how handy this can be in a country like Japan or South Korea, where nobody (not even the street signs) speak English. Here’s how to use it:

The app is pretty much a 100% free version of Word Lens, an app that blew many a mind when it was launched back in 2010. You don’t even need any kind of Internet connection for it to work.
