A notorious black cat by the name of Esme who lives in Beaverton, Oregon, has a fondness for pilfering small items such as gloves and masks from neighboring gardens and garages, to bring them home as gifts for her owner, Kate Felmet. Although Felmet appreciates the well-intended gesture of the loving cat, she also knows that stealing is wrong. But she had an idea…
Concerned about the missing items, Felmet posted a funny sign outing Esme as the thief responsible for the missing items, also inviting neighbors to come and retrieve their stolen goods at their convenience.
Despite the public “shaming”, Esme seems to show no remorse. Felmet told KOIN 6 CBS News that Esme is very proud of her ill-gotten booty and means no harm.
“When she brings them, she comes to the backdoor and yowls, like ‘Wooooar!’ till I come and tell her she’s done a good job.”
Felmet also told Patch that the sign wasn’t just meant for fun.
“The sign isn’t just a joke…It’s because I actually have to return things to their owners. And I don’t know where she gets the stuff.”
So far, a few people have turned up to collect their stuff, but some items are still unaccounted for. And there are probably new ones to come…
