Here are two amazing images to help you grasp the size of the Moon. These are fairly good comparisons since the distance across the US is approximately the size of half the circumference of the moon.
By the way, the surface area of the Moon is equivalent to the surface area of Russia, the United States, and Canada combined.
The US part is this big. Of course, this is not to say that the US or anybody else should take any part of the Moon.
It should be left alone!
An interesting comparison nevertheless.
